Lansinoh SmartPump Double Electric Breast Pump: Making Pumping Easier for New Moms

The first thing I liked about the Lansinoh SmartPump is how much it comes stocked with in the box. Not only do you get the digital pump, bottles, lids (see a full list at the bottom of the article), but Lansinoh also includes a nice tote bag, cooler bag, and ice pack. I appreciated that it also comes with 2 different sized ComfortFit flanges, because let’s face it, when it comes to nursing moms, one size does not fit all comfortably. The Lansinoh SmartPump also has a Y connector for the tubing, meaning only one tubing to plug into the pump itself. All parts of the pump and bottles are BPA and BPS free. Another great feature is the closed design of the pumping system which eliminates milk getting into the tubing, preventing mold and bacteria. That also means less parts to wash (yay!).

What makes the Lansinoh SmartPump “smart” is the Bluetooth capabilities to connect to any smartphone. The Lansinoh app is easy to download and set up by connecting it to your pump. You can then set up reminders, track how much you are pumping, track your baby’s activities and development, as well as access resources and provide information for your pediatrician. When you are sleep deprived, having reminders and someone else tracking pumping sessions is nice and fully appreciated.

The pump is small and easily portable (especially in the tote bag!) and is even easier to travel with since the pump comes with an AC adapter but also has the option of using batteries for when you can’t plug into an outlet. The digital pump has separate controls to customize a pumping style, expression mode, and suction level. Three pumping styles help to mimic your baby’s feeding/sucking pattern. You can choose from either a let down or expression mode, and there are 8 suction levels to choose from so you can customize for your comfort. The pump also has a lighted LCD screen with a timer so you can keep track of how long you have been pumping without watching a clock.
