Welcome to the wonderful world of FL!P Circus, the big top experience that’s taking the country by storm. The Vazquez family has created a brand new show for the 2023 National Tour that’s set to amaze and entertain audiences in Staten Island and Long Island. This year’s show is packed with new international acts and audience favorites that will have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.
Under the distinctive red and white, 800-seat, climate-controlled big top tent, there is no seat more than 50-feet from the ring. The front row is so close that audience members often find themselves being brought into the ring to be part of the fun. The intimate setting creates a unique experience where the laughs are plentiful, and the wows only stop when the show ends.
Ringmaster Arthur Figueroa serves as host of this new circus adventure. He holds himself as a classic and professional ringmaster, following the classical tradition. To reflect the skills of this Ringmaster, one performer we saw made a mistake. But Figueroa coached him right back to try and do the trick again. The ringmaster by far makes the show. His professionalism and grace lets you see how old school circuses were at their peak. Seeing him watch during each performance, you can tell he genuinely loves what he does. He has this constant sly smile and wink just like my uncle used to do.
The show features a cast of international performers from Mexico, Italy, Columbia, and Ukraine. Carolina Vazquez gracefully performs high above the audience on a single trapeze while Columbia’s Duo Vanegas defy gravity, their own safety, and your expectations on the rotating Wheel of Steel. The magnificent Bello Sisters from Italy, who amazed audiences on America’s Got Talent, dazzle with their incredible body-bending, handstand skills. From the United States, the Super Tumblers present a fast-paced display of agile acrobatic dexterity. Direct from Ukraine, the Bingo Troupe presents a high-energy display of dance, acrobatics, and unicycle that will fill the tent with their boundless exuberance. The entire production moves to the beat of the live FL!P Circus Band, which provides the soundtrack to all the fun.
The small and intimate tent creates a magical atmosphere that takes you back to the classic days of the circus. The sound and lighting are excellent, and all of the acts are very well done. Steve the clown was awesome, and Alejandro was very impressive. The three sisters were very good at balancing.
The act involving the Wheel of Death was scary and exceeded all of our expectations. This was by far our favorite act and the one that truly had us terrified.
The Super Tumblers were very lively, and they heavily encouraged audience participation. At the end of the show, you can take pictures and meet some of the performers. There is something magical about finding a circus in your local mall’s parking lot. The show times are 7:30 pm on weekdays and 1:00 pm, 4:00 pm, and 7:00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Tickets start at $25.00 for children and $40.00 for adults, with senior/military/handicap discounts available.
