Ancient Olive Trees makes hand-poured scented candles with a fragrance lineup built around warm, woody, citrus and musky profiles. We tried several scents to see how distinct they felt and how well they worked as everyday home fragrance.

The lineup we tried included four fragrances with noticeably different personalities.

• Cashmere combines fig and musk for a soft, warm scent.
• Silk Road leans fruitier and slightly sweeter.
• Reminisce uses citrus, Mandarin zest, pink grapefruit, ginger and verbena for a brighter profile.
• Saddle is the warmest and woodiest of the group, with leather and wood notes.

Of the four, Saddle and Cashmere felt the most suited to cooler months, while Reminisce worked better when we wanted something fresher and less heavy.

Wax Blend and Burn Time

Ancient Olive Trees says its candles are hand-poured in California using a blend of soy, coconut oil and paraffin wax. The brand advertised up to a 65-hour burn time, although actual burn time will vary with wick trimming, room conditions and how long the candle is burned at once.

What We Liked

The strongest part of the collection is variety. The scents do not all blur into the same sweet profile, so it is easy to choose between something fresh, musky or woody depending on the room and season.

The presentation also feels more polished than a basic jar candle, which makes these easier to consider as a host or housewarming gift.

Who Are Ancient Olive Trees Candles For?

These are best for shoppers who care more about fragrance variety and presentation than simply finding the least expensive candle. We would start with Reminisce for a brighter citrus scent or Saddle for something warmer and woodier.
