We recently had the absolute pleasure of seeing Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Musical at the Orlando Family Stage, and let me just say—it was a total hit with the whole crew.

From the moment we walked into the lobby, the experience was already engaging. Kids were immediately drawn into a fun scavenger hunt set up before the show even began. It was the perfect way to keep them curious and excited—and, honestly, a great warm-up for what was to come.

And yes, there was a real piece of “cheese” sitting in the lobby. If you know, you know. It was such a clever touch to bring the infamous cheese touch to life before we even took our seats—and of course, it played a hilarious role in the show itself.

As for the performance? Wow. We were blown away by the energy, the humor, and the sheer talent on that stage. Every role was performed by kids—and they absolutely crushed it. From acting to singing to managing those impressive set changes, it was clear these young performers had put their hearts into every moment.

The music was catchy, funny, and full of personality. Favorites from our group included “Mom Bucks” “Stuck in the Middle” and “Cheese Touch”.  People were humming all the way out of the theater, which is always a good sign.

One of the standout scenes was during the school’s winter talent show, when Greg calls Rowley his BFF. Rowley was so excited, he completely forgot what his act was supposed to be. The moment was so sweet and absolutely hilarious —everyone in the audience was laughing.

The props and set design were equally impressive. Every scene transition was seamless, and the visual storytelling added even more charm to the experience.

What really stood out, though, was that the show wasn’t just for kids—it was by kids. And they did an incredible job. Their professionalism, enthusiasm, and talent lit up the stage and made the whole production feel special.

This show is ideal for elementary through middle school audiences, but parents and older siblings will have just as much fun. And if you’re a young ones can sit still for a long enough they will love it too. Whether you’re a longtime fan of the books or just meeting Greg Heffley for the first time, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Musical is a must-see.

If you have a chance to catch it at the Orlando Family Stage, grab your tickets. It’s family theater done right—full of heart, laughter, and unforgettable moments.
