I’ve reached the stage of adulthood where I now get excited about containers. Not trips to Paris, not winning the lottery—containers. Specifically, the Fifth Fork Canister Set, which has successfully convinced me that jars with catchphrases are a lifestyle upgrade.
This trio of ceramic canisters arrives with bamboo lids, which are apparently eco-friendly. Which is a relief, because the last thing I wanted was to feel morally conflicted while storing sugar. Each container is stamped with a playful slogan: “But First, Coffee,” “All You Need is Tea,” and my personal favorite, “Gimme Some Sugar”—because nothing screams sophisticated kitchen aesthetic like passive-aggressive ceramic.
I’ll admit, they do look nice on the counter. For the first week, I felt like I was living in a Pinterest board. But then came the daily reality: the coffee canister lid requires two hands and the strength of a lumberjack to open before 7 a.m. Spoiler: my mornings did not improve. On the plus side, the airtight seal does keep my grounds fresh, and my tea leaves haven’t wilted. So yes, it works—but not before I’ve considered throwing the thing across the room in a caffeine-deprived rage.
As for the sugar canister, it’s cute until guests read it out loud and wink. Nothing like an awkward “Gimme Some Sugar” moment with your mother-in-law. Still, I suppose that’s better than labeling it “Dental Regret in a Jar.”
In terms of gifting, this set hits that sweet spot between “thoughtful” and “I panicked at 11 p.m. on Amazon.” Perfect for housewarmings, coffee enthusiasts, or individuals who appreciate their kitchenware serving as a conversation starter. Just don’t expect it to solve your organizational crisis. If anything, now I have three jars mocking me while my pantry remains a war zone.
Would I recommend the Fifth Fork Canister Set? Sure—if you enjoy whimsical ceramics and don’t mind starting your morning with a minor workout. It’s cute, it’s functional, and it’ll keep your coffee fresher than your attitude before you’ve had any.
