The Alexis Royal Sonesta has a reputation among Seattle locals due to its rich history. The hotel has been in the West Edge Neighborhood of Seattle since 1901 and has been updated to include modern and luxurious amenities. You knew you were in a historic hotel but didn’t feel as if you were in an “old hotel.” The words old and classic seem to interchange with old being a negative and the more commonly used term. This hotel was classic.
It’s not often you get a combination of history and modernity in one hotel. Location-wise, having explored a good portion of Seattle, I can say the hotel was in an area that I felt comfortable. It’s a short walk up the hill to Pike Place Market, and the waterfront is just down the hill. Museums were all around, as well as some of the nicer restaurants in town.
First and foremost is the service. I can say of all the hotels that we’ve been to; the Alexis Royal Sonesta was undoubtedly among the top on our list in terms of the quality of service. The staff was very attentive and friendly and gave great advice on the area. Amenities like complimentary unlimited water bottles and fresh coffee every morning were nice touches., My favorite was the dog bowls by the entrance that listed all the dogs that were current guests. How cute is that! My husband enjoyed the bicycles that were in the lobby, free to use.
Our room was ridiculously spacious, and we actually loved that the suite gave us that space to set all the kids down at night and spread apart all their “stuff” that they absolutely can not travel without. I loved the blend of old-world style with a laidback relaxing atmosphere.
If biking isn’t your thing, the Alexis has various fitness activities in-house, ranging from a boulder wall to peloton machines and pilates equipment. I have never been to a hotel that has offered so many choices.
Overall, this was the kind of hotel you just do not want to leave because you feel welcomed and at home. So when I return to Seattle, of course, I want to stay at the Alexis because it will feel like returning home.
Check out the Alexis.
