Blue Bunny’s 2023 holiday lineup included three frozen desserts we tried: Peppermint Stick ice cream, Soft Frosted Sugar Cookie frozen dairy dessert and Candy Cane Crunch Mini Bars. The strongest of the group for us was the sugar-cookie flavor, while peppermint fans had two distinctly mint-forward choices.

Peppermint Stick delivered exactly what its name suggested: a creamy base with a pronounced peppermint flavor. We found the mint intensity stronger than a subtle seasonal accent, making this the best fit of the three for people who specifically seek out peppermint ice cream during the holidays.

Soft Frosted Sugar Cookie

Soft Frosted Sugar Cookie was our favorite of the lineup. The frozen dairy dessert combined a soft-serve-inspired texture with sugar-cookie flavor and cookie pieces. Of the three products, it most clearly translated a familiar holiday baked good into frozen-dessert form.

Candy Cane Crunch Mini Bars

Candy Cane Crunch Mini Bars paired pink peppermint frozen dairy dessert with a coating and crunchy peppermint candy pieces. The smaller bar format made these different from buying a carton, while the candy pieces added texture to the peppermint profile.

Which Blue Bunny holiday flavor was best?

We preferred Soft Frosted Sugar Cookie because the cookie pieces and dessert-like flavor gave it more variety than straightforward peppermint. Peppermint Stick was the better choice for someone who wants an assertive mint ice cream, while Candy Cane Crunch offered a similar seasonal flavor in a portioned bar.
