What We Tried

Snacking usually falls into two categories: greasy regret or cardboard health food. Somehow, Dr. Praeger’s Snacks manages to occupy the sweet spot between the two, where vegetables are dressed up in fun shapes and coatings and suddenly become the life of the freezer aisle. They’re quick, convenient, and surprisingly tasty—and they put vegetables into a convenient frozen-snack format. Check each current package for nutrition, ingredients and allergens rather than treating the vegetable content as a blanket health claim.

Pizza Stars and Taco Stars

Take the Pizza Stars. They’ve got cauliflower and whole grains tucked inside, but you’d never know it thanks to real mozzarella and that familiar pizza flavor. Honestly, they taste a lot better than I expected, especially when they come out of the air fryer perfectly crisp. The star shape adds a fun factor for kids, though I admit I was just as happy munching on them myself. A snack that feels whimsical and delivers protein? I’ll take it.

Then there are the Taco Stars. Think of them as a mini fiesta you can whip up in under ten minutes. With black beans, corn, and peppers all packed inside, they give you a taco vibe without the mess of shells and toppings. They’re mild enough for kids but still flavorful for adults—though I recommend pairing them with salsa to really bring out their flavor. They disappear fast in my house, which is always the sign of a winner.

Broccoli Cheddar Bites and Veggie Fries

My personal favorite? The Broccoli Cheddar Cheesy Bites. They nail that perfect combo of crispy outside and gooey inside, with broccoli taking a back seat to real cheddar cheese. They’re snackable, filling, and easy to eat straight out of the air fryer. It’s the rare moment where eating vegetables feels indulgent instead of like homework.

And then there’s the Ranch Crunchy Veggie Fries. When we reviewed this lineup in 2025, these were part of the mix; the brand now lists them as discontinued. They were fries with a twist—ten different veggies in a crunchy coating already seasoned with ranch. No dipping required, which made them dangerously easy to eat by the handful. They worked as a snack, side dish, or party food.

Who Dr. Praeger’s Snacks May Suit

What I appreciate most is how effortless these snacks are. They go from freezer to table in minutes, and everyone—from kids to adults—actually eats them without complaint. That alone feels like a minor miracle. Sure, they’re not trying to replace a slice of pizza or a basket of fries from your favorite restaurant, but as far as frozen veggie-packed snacks go, Dr. Praeger’s really raises the bar.

These aren’t just vegetables in disguise—they’re vegetables done better.
