In 2023, Rao’s Homemade introduced three pasta sauces and two soups as part of an expansion of its packaged food lineup.
Rao’s Homemade Pasta Sauces
Caramelized Onion Sauce
Rao’s Caramelized Onion Sauce used caramelized onions and Italian tomatoes. The brand positioned it for pasta as well as chicken or beef dishes.
Vodka Arrabbiata Sauce
Rao’s Vodka Arrabbiata Sauce combined Italian tomatoes, cheeses, vodka and crushed red pepper. Parmigiano Reggiano and Pecorino Romano added richness to the tomato-and-vodka base. Crushed red pepper added noticeable heat.
Pizza Arrabbiata Sauce
Rao’s Pizza Arrabbiata Sauce was marketed for pizzas and calzones. The sauce featured Italian whole peeled tomatoes, cherry tomatoes and crushed red pepper.
Rao’s Made For Home Soups
Italian-Style Lentil Soup
Rao’s Italian-Style Lentil Soup used a chicken-broth base with lentils, carrots and diced Italian tomatoes. It also included Italian-style herbs and spices.
Butternut Squash Soup
Rao’s Butternut Squash Soup combined butternut squash, chicken broth and sautéed vegetables. The smooth and creamy butternut squash is balanced with savory chicken broth and the natural sweetness of sautéed vegetables. Warming spices rounded out the recipe.
The products were introduced at The Saucery by Rao’s Homemade, a 2023 pop-up event, and were subsequently rolled out through Rao’s website and nationwide retailers.
Because this article covers a 2023 product launch, current recipes, packaging, pricing and availability should be checked against Rao’s current product information. For a newer hands-on look at the brand, see our Rao’s Homemade sauces review.
How to use this historical launch guide
This article captures what Rao’s introduced in 2023, not a guarantee that every sauce and soup remains unchanged or widely stocked. Product names, ingredients, package sizes and retail distribution can move around over time. If one of these flavors sounds appealing, check the current label and the company’s lineup. The launch is still useful as a snapshot of how Rao’s extended beyond its best-known marinara.
