When it comes to Star Wars toys it is hard to go wrong, but the articulated Revell Star Wars SnapTite Build & Play models are the best. I’m particularly fond of the Imperial AT-AT Cargo Walker Building Kit.
As a Star Wars fan myself, I have worked diligently to cultivate the next generation of Star Wars fans. I can tell you one of my fondest childhood memories is how I used my action figures to recreate scenes from the films, but that wasn’t all. I was able to allow my imagination to flourish beyond the screen to have more battles and more encounters. The only thing is that my action figures were not moveable. Now we have some of the most incredible action figures/vehicles available. They’re articulated, have sound effects, and great attention to detail. Even as an adult I can’t tell you how fun it is to be able to make an AT-AT actually walk, and as much as I love making my own sound effects, they’re just not as good as the audio clip from the movie.
Plus, let’s not forget the enjoyment and satisfaction that comes from putting a model together. I remember painstakingly gluing the plastic pieces of model airplanes together, just so I could hang them from my ceiling when I was done. SnapTite models don’t require glue or tools (nor as much patience), which opens them up to younger enthusiasts. And, as mentioned previously, the fact that they are articulated and can be played with is key.
