In our quest to explore exceptional coffee experiences, we stumbled upon Cafe Grumpy’s remarkable collaboration with César Fernandez, a talented coffee farmer from Las Flores. The roots of this partnership trace back to the 2010 Honduran Cup of Excellence auction, where César secured an impressive fourth-place position. Intrigued by his success, Cafe Grumpy acquired a small portion of César’s lot and embarked on a direct relationship with the farmer.

César’s four-hectare farm, graciously bestowed upon him by his father, spans an elevation from 1400 to 1700 meters above sea level, providing a unique setting for coffee cultivation. Only the ripest cherries, a blend of pacas and catuai varieties, are carefully hand-picked before making their way to the Fernandez brothers’ wet mill. There, the cherries undergo meticulous de-pulping and immediate preparation for fermentation. The duration of fermentation, influenced by the unpredictable weather conditions, ranges from 16 to 36 hours.
