Wild Alaskan Company Review at a Glance

We tried Wild Alaskan Company in 2025 because having individually portioned seafood delivered to the freezer sounded easier than another week of emergency fish sticks. We chose a Wild Combo Box with 12 vacuum-sealed portions and evaluated the signup process, delivery, cooking, account flexibility and price.

Signup and Delivery

The 2025 signup process let us choose among box options before checkout. Our Wild Combo Box arrived roughly a week later in a cardboard shipping cooler with dry ice and insulation, and everything was still solidly frozen when it reached us.

That delivery experience was good. Finding enough freezer space was less elegant and involved the usual round of moving popsicles and unidentified leftovers.

Cooking and Taste

We thawed and pan-seared the sockeye salmon with minimal seasoning and found the flesh firm, rich and easy to cook. The Pacific cod flaked well without turning rubbery.

Those were the most important firsthand observations in the review: the portions were convenient to store individually, and the fish was easy to turn into a quick dinner.

Sustainability Claims and Company Position

Wild Alaskan Company’s 2025 materials said it sourced from responsibly managed Alaskan fisheries and highlighted its opposition to the Pebble Mine project in Bristol Bay. Those sustainability and advocacy statements are the company’s claims and positions from the time of our review, not independent certifications by Famadillo.

Current sourcing policies, fisheries, certifications and advocacy positions should be checked with the company.

Membership Flexibility

The account dashboard allowed shipment dates and box sizes to be adjusted in our 2025 membership. We eventually found the skip-a-box control and it worked, although it was less obvious than we would have liked.

Membership controls and subscription terms can change, so current account options should be verified before subscribing.

Price Context

The original 2025 review calculated our 12-portion order at roughly $5 per six-ounce portion after the shipping costs we were considering at the time. That was our calculation for that order, not a current price quote.

Current box prices, portion sizes, shipping terms and promotions may differ substantially.

Would We Keep It?

After about a month, the convenience was the strongest argument for keeping the membership: salmon and whitefish were already portioned in the freezer and could become a quick weeknight meal. The tradeoff was price and a subscription dashboard we did not find especially intuitive.

That balance—convenience versus current cost—is still the useful way to judge the service.
