SHEGLAM Willy Wonka Makeup Collection

In 2023, SHEGLAM released a Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory-themed makeup collection built around chocolate-bar packaging, candy colors and some very recognizable references to the movie. It arrived during the buildup to the 2023 Wonka film, although the collection itself leaned into imagery from the earlier story fans already knew.

We received and tried this limited-edition collection in 2023. Product availability, shades and pricing may have changed since then.

Wonka Bar Eyeshadow Palette

The Wonka Bar Eyeshadow Palette was the most immediately recognizable piece. The packaging looked like a Wonka chocolate bar, while the brown and chocolate-inspired shades were much more wearable than the novelty packaging might suggest. The formula included cocoa butter and sodium hyaluronate.

I liked the packaging, but more importantly, the brown-toned palette fit the kind of makeup I would actually wear. There is only so much mileage you can get out of makeup that is adorable in a drawer but terrifying on your face.

Cocoa Kiss Lip Duo and Cocoa Yum Lip Balm

The Cocoa Kiss Lip Duo paired a chocolate-scented gloss with a lip liner. The Cocoa Yum Lip Balm came in three shades and also used cocoa butter and sodium hyaluronate. Both continued the collection’s chocolate theme without requiring you to explain to everyone why your cosmetics looked like dessert.

Violet Flush Blush

The Violet Flush Blush referenced the famous blueberry transformation scene with a violet-tinted, dewy blush and blueberry scent. It was one of the more playful pieces in the collection and made the movie connection obvious without simply putting another chocolate wrapper around a product.

Golden Egg Solid Perfume

The Golden Egg Solid Perfume took its inspiration from Wonka’s golden eggs. Its compact solid format made it easy to carry, while the packaging continued the collection’s habit of turning familiar movie props into beauty products.

A Beauty Collection That Looked Like Candy

The funniest part of testing the collection had nothing to do with makeup. My kids saw chocolate-looking packages arrive and reasonably assumed that chocolate was involved. Learning that the Wonka bars contained eyeshadow rather than candy did not go over especially well.

My daughter summed up the problem perfectly: “Why would they have makeup that looks just like what I really want, which is actual Willie Wonka candy?!?!”
