Winvian Farm Review

There are hotels and resorts, and then there’s Winvian Farm, located in Morris, Connecticut—a place so exclusive and refined that the entrance gate practically sighs in delight as it swings open to welcome you.  If you’re the kind of person who thinks first-class flights just aren’t quite first-class enough, then congratulations, you’ve found your next getaway.

First Impressions at Winvian Farm

When you arrive, you’re greeted at the door by a personal guest assistant program member who seems so delighted to see you that you briefly wonder if they’ve mistaken you for royalty. Ours was Ilaria. No, it turns out they’re just that good at their jobs. Your assistant will get you whatever you need. The level of service here isn’t just top-notch—it’s synchronized, like a well-rehearsed ballet of hospitality. During our stay, the staff worked smoothly together and made us feel pampered—if slightly unworthy of the experience.

Winvian Farm Themed Cottages

Winvian isn’t just a resort—it’s a collection of themed cottages, each more elaborate than the last. Some guests make it a mission to stay in every single one. Admirable? Sure. Expensive? Undoubtedly.

We opted for the Camping Cottage because nothing says “embracing nature” quite like camping with heated floors, a steam shower, and a Nespresso machine. If roughing it means sipping espresso in front of a fireplace, then yes, we are true outdoorsmen. Other cabins include the Secret Society Cottage, with dark walls, mysterious furniture, and the undeniable sense that you might accidentally summon a ghost if you say something wrong. Or the Woodland Cottage, which brings the forest indoors—minus the inconvenience of actual wildlife.

The cottage we saw had upscale amenities, but layouts and inclusions vary. Confirm the current details for the cottage you choose rather than assuming every stay includes the same setup. Oh, and there’s even a golf-themed cottage for those who like their vacations with a side of self-inflicted frustration.

Dining at Winvian Farm

The restaurant is set in an old historic house, instantly making you feel sophisticated and slightly concerned about knocking over an antique. Each dining room is intimate, and the fireplaces crackle with a warmth that makes you consider quitting your job and moving in permanently.

Dinner starts with a homemade French baguette that is so good it deserves its fan club. The meal itself? Exquisite. You know you’re in a fine-dining establishment when they present you with a specific fish fork because heaven forbid you eat your sea bass with the wrong utensil. The tablecloths, custom-made with the Winvian Farms logo, serve as a gentle reminder that you are eating in a place fancier than your entire existence.

Winvian Farm Spa

During our stay, the spa was tucked away in a quiet corner of the resort and offered a range of treatments. Our response was subjective; spa treatments do not guarantee stress relief. We tried the spa during our visit, and the experience felt relaxing to us. The large windows and comfortable chaises helped this high-strung guest relax during the visit. For us, the setting made it easy to slow down.

Winvian Farm Amenities

Staying at Winvian Farm is like being on a land cruise—everything you need is right there. During our stay, the available dining and activities meant we rarely felt the need to leave the property. When we decided to explore beyond the property, Winvian offered us use of a Volvo while our car charged. We also received a gift certificate to grab a coffee or ice cream in town. Those perks were part of our visit and may not be included with every stay.

Is Winvian Farm Worth It?

Winvian Farm worked well for our anniversary-style escape and as a short romantic getaway. The experience felt deliberately indulgent without requiring us to turn the trip into a long stay.
