Zeroe Vegetarian Caviar Review

Zeroe takes the look and presentation of caviar and recreates it with seaweed-based pearls. We tried it because the idea sounded unusual; what mattered more was whether the texture and flavor made sense once it was actually on a cracker.

What Zeroe Vegetarian Caviar Tastes Like

In our tasting, the pearls were briny with a crisp pop that gave them some of the ceremony of traditional caviar. The flavor was seasoned rather than simply salty, and the small pearls made it easy to use as a garnish or appetizer.

Texture and Presentation

The appearance is part of the appeal. The glossy pearls look convincing on a spoon or cracker, and the texture gave us a noticeable burst rather than turning mushy immediately.

That does not make it identical to fish roe. It is better approached as a vegetarian alternative with its own seaweed-based flavor and texture.

For us, Zeroe worked best as an entertaining product: visually distinctive, easy to serve in small portions and different enough to start a conversation. We enjoyed it in a much less formal setting than the presentation suggests—on the couch with crackers—and it still felt like something more interesting than an everyday snack.
