The Arlo Security Light system by Netgear boasts super bright LEDs that function with 400 lumens. It comes in a kit that includes a bridge to boost your WiFi signal, the security light itself, a rechargeable battery, and an AC adapter with a USB cable. Just screw it together. Then, you can tilt or swivel it into the position you want.
As far as getting the best results, though, you have to be deliberate in where you place the bridge. Of course, you want to make sure the bridge is located close enough to your WiFi router to receive its signal, but you also want to make sure it is equidistant from where you place your security lights. It also helps if you place it higher up on the wall, not by the floor.
The rechargeable battery is recharged by plugging it in using the USB cable to connect it to the AC adaptor. The only problem is that there isn’t generally an outlet that close to where you mount the light. I don’t know if it’s a good idea to plug the adaptor into an extension cord, but that’s one possible solution. Anyway, they also sell an “outdoor” adaptor, which is designed, as the light itself is, to be useable in less than perfect weather conditions.
One good thing about the rechargeable batteries is that they have a built-in feature to save power in bright light, which works great on sunny days. It’s obviously not as effective on cloudy ones, but every little bit helps.
There’s an app you can download (Apple or Android) that will let you manage the light remotely. It works with their wireless cameras and other smart home devices. You can use it with Alexa and it supports family sharing by allowing up to six users.
Arlo lights are customizable. In other words, you can change the color of the light, how wide the beam is, and whether you want it to flash or not. You can also schedule when you want them to turn on. They even have camo skins you can buy for them.
The Arlo system offers motion detection notifications and can be bought in packages of one, two, or three lights. You can also buy additional lights individually without having to buy a whole package.
