If a Walt Disney World cast member forgets their name tag, the rule is that they have to grab one saying their name is “Chris from Orlando, Florida.”
The name tag, “Chris,” can apply to both genders. It can also be a default tag always printed and on the ready. Every cast member is supposed to have a name tag showing their name and their hometown. But having duplicates of every single cast member’s name and hometown is a bit unrealistic.
If you see a Chris from Orlando, FL in the wild, ask what the cast member’s real name is! The funniest part is that there are actually one or two cast members with this name and hometown. But most cast members are not actually Chris or from Orlando.
Turns out they have an entire bucket of “Chris from Orlando” name tags ready for the cast to grab in an emergency. That way if they forget their name tag, the cast member can just grab the default.
Of course, there are reports of other names serving this generic dual purpose. But generally, it’s a fun game to seek out and find any Chrises from Orlando that you can! Usually, they’re quite open about it being the fake duplicate name, but sometimes they’ll joke and try to cover it up.
Have you ever seen a Chris from Orlando in the wild? What other fake name tags have you seen?
Maybe…back in the day wardrobe had lost name tags that you could use til your newly ordered (for $1) name tag came in. My favorite, Jean Charles, may still be around here somewhere 😎
