Doona Car Seat and Stroller Review

I love my Doona. This is in my humble opinion one of the most useful infant stroller designs because it is also your car seat.

How the Doona car seat stroller works

It comes with a base you can easily install in a car. Once you are done strolling and want to get into your car, you fold back the wheels in one motion and click it onto the base. That means you can move an infant into the car without separately folding and loading a stroller.

If you need to use another car that does not have your base, the Doona can also be installed with a seat belt. The appeal is convenience: there is no separate stroller frame to fold into the trunk or carry around.

Doona safety features

The Doona features three-layer side-impact protection, anti-rebound bar crash technology, a 5-point safety harness and an ergonomic infant insert. It was designed to function as an infant car seat, stroller and infant carrier.

Developed with safety and medical experts, it supports the baby’s posture with its infant insert and head support. Parents should always follow the manufacturer’s current installation, fit and usage instructions for their specific model.

Cleaning and everyday use

You can remove the textile parts for washing. The head support and infant insert use bamboo charcoal fiber textile, which Doona described as anti-bacterial and hypoallergenic.

The Doona maneuvers smoothly, with swiveling wheels and a compact all-in-one design that makes it especially appealing for families who move between walking and driving frequently.

Doona Midnight Edition details

The Midnight Edition added an all-black design with a diamond-pattern seat cover, faux-leather accents and black anodized aluminum. It also came with a coordinated Doona Essentials Bag and Handlebar Cover. I particularly liked the Essentials Bag because it attached easily to the handle and included bottle holders and pockets for organizing small items.

When we reviewed this model in 2022, Doona listed it for use from newborn size up to 35 pounds while rear-facing, and the Midnight Edition was priced at $650. Specifications, pricing and available editions can change, so current buyers should check Doona’s latest product information.
