Fourth of July gatherings often revolve around food, drinks, outdoor entertaining, and a few useful extras. Our 2023 guide brought together five very different ideas, from cooking ingredients to home décor.

Moji Masala spice blends
Moji Masala offered pre-portioned Indian spice blends designed to simplify cooking dishes that might otherwise require buying several individual spices. For a summer gathering, the practical appeal was having an easy way to add something different to the usual cookout menu.

Teakoe Fizzy Tea
Teakoe’s Fizzy Tea was a sparkling tea option we included for guests who wanted something other than soda or alcohol. At the time, flavors included combinations such as Minty Pear and Peach Lavender.

Maple Buffalo Sauce
Maple Buffalo Sauce combined Vermont maple sweetness with buffalo-style heat. It was an easy fit for a cookout guide because it could be used on wings, sandwiches, grilled foods, or other dishes where a sweet-and-spicy sauce makes sense.

Loopy reusable accessories
Loopy focused on alternatives to disposable products and incorporated sustainability into its product design. We included the brand as an option for hosts or guests looking to reduce some single-use waste around summer gatherings.

Lush Decor home décor
Lush Decor rounded out the guide with home furnishings and decorative pieces. It was less specifically tied to Independence Day than the food and drink picks, but it worked as a host gift or a way to refresh a space used for summer entertaining.
Choosing a Fourth of July gift
The most useful choice depends on the gathering. Food and drink items are easy to share immediately, while reusable accessories or home décor make more sense when you want to bring the host something that lasts beyond the holiday.
What makes a summer gift useful
The best summer-entertaining gifts do a job without creating another job for the host. Serving pieces, outdoor tools and practical food or drink accessories can earn their space because they come out repeatedly. Novelty is fun, but storage space is real.
