Link4fun is a company that creates learning materials designed to help children learn to identify site words and basic vocabulary using multiple senses. Using a breakthrough technology, Link4fun 3-in-1 Learning Library flashcards allow your child to interact with your iPad in a way that is entertaining, educational, and provides the option of self-checking their ideas. The app that is downloaded provides both visual and auditory information. The flashcards are actual cards that children can touch and manipulate. This creates a learning experience that makes use of three of the five senses all in one activity.
The flashcards are available on the Link4fun website or Amazon and come in three individual packs of 24 cards, as well as 12 picture cards and 12 word cards. The master pack includes all three packs (72 flashcards, 36 picture cards and 36 word cards) per library. The app is downloadable through iTunes, and comes with additional activities. There are two different libraries to choose from. One is all about foods, with a set that focuses on fruits and vegetables, a set that focuses on protein and dairy, and a set that focuses on grains and snacks. Each set is available to purchase separately, but as with most combo packs, if you’re interested in all three, it’s cheaper to buy them together. It also makes sense to buy them together because when you add them all up, it makes the food pyramid (now referred to as “My Plate”). The other library is about animals and includes a set on pets, a set on farm animals, and a set on wild animals.
When it comes to your child’s education, it’s really never too early to start. However, with this product the recommended age range is 3 – 10 years old. If you think about it, that makes sense, because they have to have developed enough motor coordination to manipulate the cards on their own. As far as the upper age limit, it really depends on your child and their interests. Foods and animals are topics that most children find interesting throughout elementary school, but some may begin to feel that they’ve outgrown the program sooner than others. I think this is product is ideal for kids that are pre-school age through maybe second grade, and for kids that have difficulty learning in the traditional classroom setting. I highly recommend it.
