This review reflects the Women’s Chore Mid Boot we tested in 2023. Colors, prints, materials, specifications and availability may change between product versions.
The Muck Boot Company Women’s Chore Mid Boot is built as a practical waterproof work boot for outdoor chores. The version we reviewed paired the familiar Chore construction with a mid-height design and a chicken print that gave an otherwise utilitarian boot a little personality.
Waterproof construction
The primary reason to choose this type of boot is protection from wet and muddy conditions. The Women’s Chore Mid was sold as a 100% waterproof boot, making it useful for barn work, gardening and other outdoor jobs where ordinary shoes quickly become soaked.
Fit and comfort
The 2023 model used a fitted calf opening intended to help keep debris out, along with a 5mm CR Flex-Foam neoprene liner. It also included reinforced arch support and a steel shank. Those details made it more substantial than a lightweight rain boot for long periods spent on your feet.
Traction and outsole
The rubber outsole was designed for traction and easy cleaning after muddy use. The product specifications available when we reviewed it also listed ASTM F2413-18 M/I/C EH / ESR-related outsole protection. Anyone buying boots specifically for occupational safety requirements should verify the certification on the current model rather than relying on a 2023 specification.
Temperature and breathability
Muck Boot Company described the boot’s comfort range at the time as extending from sub-freezing temperatures to 65°F. A breathable mesh lining was intended to help manage moisture inside the boot. Temperature comfort is subjective, however, and depends on activity level, socks and weather conditions.
Style
The chicken-print version we reviewed stood out from conventional black or brown work boots. The pattern did not change the practical purpose of the boot, but it offered an option for shoppers who wanted chore footwear with a less industrial appearance.

Bottom line
The Women’s Chore Mid Boot made the most sense for people who needed waterproof, mid-height footwear for messy outdoor work. Its combination of neoprene construction, support and a rugged outsole was practical, while the chicken print made this particular version more distinctive.
