The MM-6 speakers have a restrained, modern look that works on a desk, bookshelf, credenza, or speaker stands without making the room resemble a recording studio that forgot to finish unpacking. The original lineup offered multiple color choices.

Sound Quality and Volume

The speakers impressed us with their combination of clarity and volume. At the time of review, Kali Audio listed a lower-frequency response of 39 Hz and a maximum sound-pressure level of 115 dB. Those figures help explain why the MM-6 could sound substantial without requiring the volume control to spend its entire life near the top.

The MM-6 was described as acoustically related to Kali Audio’s LP-6 studio monitor. In practical terms, the sound felt detailed and balanced rather than exaggerated simply to make the first few seconds seem dramatic.

Inputs and Setup

The rear-panel connections included optical, RCA, S/PDIF, and XLR inputs. That flexibility made the speakers easier to integrate into different home setups, including a television, gaming console, A/V receiver, or music system.

When sold as a pair at the time of review, the speakers included a 10-foot XLR cable for connecting the two units.

Remote Control and Boundary EQ

The included remote was especially useful when the connected device did not provide convenient volume control. Boundary EQ settings also allowed the sound to be adjusted for placement on stands, on a desk, or near a wall. That matters because even excellent speakers can sound less excellent when placed wherever an available outlet happened to win the argument.
