Red Vines joined the annual pumpkin-spice migration in 2023 with Pumpkin Spice Twists. We tried them expecting the flavor equivalent of a scented candle with a sugar rush. They were much more restrained than that.
What Did Red Vines Pumpkin Spice Taste Like?
The aroma was the strongest part. Open the package and the pumpkin-spice scent showed up immediately.
The actual flavor was milder. We tasted more cinnamon and nutmeg than anything resembling pumpkin, with the familiar chewy Red Vines sweetness still underneath.
That balance worked in the candy’s favor. The seasonal spice was noticeable without completely replacing the base candy.
Was the Pumpkin Spice Flavor Strong?
No. Anyone expecting an aggressive pumpkin-spice flavor might have found these surprisingly subtle.
For us, that made them easier to snack on. The flavor read as “fall” without turning every bite into a competition between cinnamon, nutmeg and your patience.
How Sweet Were They?
The sweetness felt fairly balanced for a candy. We did not get the heavy sugary aftertaste that can come with some novelty flavors.
The spice notes also helped keep the twists from tasting like a standard Red Vine with orange packaging and a seasonal marketing meeting behind it.
2023 Nutrition and Certification Details
At the time of the 2023 release, Red Vines described the Pumpkin Spice Twists as fat-free and low-sodium, and the package carried Kosher and Halal certifications.
Those details reflect the 2023 product. Ingredients, nutrition information, certifications and availability can change, so current packaging should be checked if the flavor returns.
Were Red Vines Pumpkin Spice Worth Trying?

The strong aroma suggested a much louder flavor than we actually got. Instead, the twists delivered a mild cinnamon-and-nutmeg profile that kept the original candy recognizable.
In other words, pumpkin spice showed up, but it did not seize control of the building.
