Review: Elegante and Roble Fino Partida will change how you view Tequila

Let me tell you a little secret about me. I’m a Scotch guy. It’s mature. It’s sophisticated. It’s manly. A good smokey Scotch will linger with aftertaste in your mouth long after you are done with your meal. You can share a dram or two with friends and talk politics and philosophy.

Tequila? I don’t mind a shot here and there, but it does not have the same aura. It’s more for college kids who want to party without shelling out too much money, in my mind.

Until now.

Tequila Partida Elegante is a world class alcohol. The Lamborghini of liquors. Breathtaking. Amazing. Out-of-superlatives.

Aged in bourbon barrels with a 40% abv, Elegante will titillate your nose with oak, caramel and vanilla. Some black pepper will join the party as the divine liquid enters your mouth. And just like a good Scotch, that flavour will linger for your pleasure much longer than you can expect.

That first glass was after a nice meal, going along with my desert, some dark chocolate. I can’t think of a better pairing than Elegante and dark chocolate. Pure magic was happening inside my mouth and I just did not want it to end.

Partida Elegante is a high-end product and comes with a hefty price tag. Depending on where you live, you could pay between 350$ and 500$. But God knows it is worth every penny you will pay. A glass of Elegante is an experience you will never forget.

And for those days you can’t justify a few hundred bucks for a bottle of Tequila, a nice fall back would be the Sherry oak cask-aged Partida Roble Fino.

Sherry oak-seasoned casks are a very trendy way to age Scotch, and it looks like others are paying attention.

Roble Fino is another serious and mature product that will be on top of your list once you try it. The vanilla and caramel are there, of course, but the Sherry cask aging brings you the dried fruit aroma and flavour that I like so much with Sherry-aged Scotch. It’s a very nice and complex flavour that will satisfy everyone.
I can’t stress enough how Partida changed how I view Tequila. Yes, some entry-level products can be for college kids. But at the other end of the spectrum, serious drinkers who look for an experience will find an amazing beverage with either Elegante or Tequila Partida Roble Fino. Let’s drink to that.
