I have been on a quest for a good nutrition bar for as long as I can remember. Something that doesn’t taste processed, isn’t packed with artificial ingredients, and isn’t overly sweet. You see, I like healthy food. I think it tastes good. If I’m going to skip a meal, I don’t really want to replace it with mystery food. And if I’m going to eat something sweet and chocolatey, let it just be a cookie! The santa barbara (SB bar), fits the bill perfectly. There are three flavors: Cranberry White Chocolate, Peanut Chocolate Cherry, and Coconut Almond, and to be honest, I had a hard time picking a favorite. Made with fruit, nuts, and seeds, each bar contains 4 grams of fiber and 8 grams of protein. As you probably know from previous posts, I’m a busy mom on the go, so it’s refreshing to find a snack that appeals to both me and my kids. I love that there are no added soy ingredients, no refined sugar, and all the bars are GMO free. This is stuff that really matters to me when I am picking out foods for my family. Ok, so I said I had a hard time picking a favorite, but I did particularly like the Coconut Almond bar. The coconut flavor is subtle, but there, and the bar is just sweet enough to taste great without being overwhelming. I found myself starving the other day, post workout, mid afternoon, and this was the perfect pick me up. It felt indulgent without making me feel guilty. In fact, I would go so far as to say I felt kind of virtuous. These bars are packed with real food nutrition. Look, my days of dieting are long behind me. When I eat, I want to eat something good– nutritious and satisfying. Filled with whole foods like chia seeds, cranberries, dark chocolate, pumpkin seeds and more, these bars are packed full of nutrition as well as flavor. I have no doubt they will become a staple in our house.
