We stayed at A Tiny House Resort in South Cairo, New York, in 2023. It gave us the fun of trying tiny-house living without requiring us to actually sell our belongings and start measuring furniture in inches.
The property felt organized from the start, with clear paths, manicured grounds and a layout that made it easy to explore. It also felt very family-run. Several generations were involved in keeping the place moving, and that personal presence was noticeable during our stay.
Staying in The Honeycomb Tiny House
We stayed in The Honeycomb. The space was compact but thoughtfully designed, with air conditioning, Wi-Fi and the basics we needed for a comfortable stay.
The best feature was the private porch overlooking the creek. Morning coffee there was exactly the kind of quiet moment tiny-house marketing brochures promise and real life rarely delivers.

Pool, Creek and Family Activities
The resort had a heated pool, giant chess and checkers, walking trails and access to the creek. We skipped floating the creek because it was extremely hot and humid, but having it right beside the property added to the setting.
A food truck handled easy meals like burgers and fries, with rotating themed specials. During our stay, Carnival Day included fried Oreos and jalapeño poppers, which is a fairly efficient way to tell vacation that nutrition will resume later.
Small details helped the stay feel well managed. We received text updates about activities, and mosquito catchers were positioned near the cabins. The paths and signs were clear enough that exploring the grounds never felt confusing.
Animals, Trails and the Waterfall
Goats, chickens, ducks and roosters added to the rural feel of the property. The animals were a hit, especially for a family stay where “look, a goat” can buy you a surprising amount of entertainment.
The on-site waterfall was also worth the walk. It was easy enough to reach and substantial enough to feel like an actual destination rather than a decorative trickle with good branding.

Who A Tiny House Resort Worked For
During our 2023 visit, the property balanced family activities with quieter spaces well. My husband could head out for a morning run while the rest of us enjoyed the creek, trails and cabin. Couples could easily enjoy the same setting without feeling trapped inside a kid-focused resort.
For us, the biggest appeal was getting a real taste of tiny-house living while still having resort-style conveniences around us. If that combination sounds appealing, this was a fun way to try it firsthand.
