Chilli No. 5 Hot Sauce Review

Chilli No. 5 takes hot sauce in a more gourmet direction, with a lineup built around different flavor combinations rather than simply seeing how quickly a condiment can make you regret your decisions.

What is Chilli No. 5?

Chilli No. 5 is a British hot sauce brand launched in 2020. The sauces use a five-chilli blend as a base and were offered in multiple varieties and bottle sizes when we tried them.

The practical appeal is variety. Instead of treating heat as the entire personality of the sauce, the range pairs chillies with other flavors so different bottles can work with different meals.

Wicked Wasabi

Wicked Wasabi was one of the more distinctive options in the lineup, combining chilli heat with the sharp character of wasabi. It is the sort of sauce that makes more sense as an accent than something you pour absentmindedly while discussing your day.

Mini bottles make sampling easier

The smaller 15 ml bottles were particularly useful for trying different flavors without committing to several full-size bottles. They were also easier to pack for lunch or travel if carrying your own hot sauce is a level of preparedness you have achieved.

How we would use Chilli No. 5

Hot sauce earns its refrigerator space by being flexible. Depending on the flavor, Chilli No. 5 can work with pizza, eggs, grilled foods, sandwiches or other meals that need more heat and flavor.
