Depending on your personality and finances, purchasing luggage can be a flippant ordeal or an investment. In either case, style and function both play a role. The iFLY FiberTech hard cover suitcase series was designed to fulfill both criteria. They come in a sleek black design and are very similar to the Carbon Racing series. Plenty of room with an expansion zipper, elastic straps to hold clothes in place, and an interior side pocket. They also have a retractable handle and double wheels.
Speaking of wheels, I would like to address complaints I’ve read about wheels breaking off. iFLY offers a 10-year warranty. Although, it doesn’t cover airline handling which seems to account for many of the complaints. However, many consumers also complained that there were no replacement parts available. So, I just want to point out that iFLY sells packs of wheels separately if you need to replace them. Even if you purchased the FiberTech or Carbon Racing luggage through another company, you can just go to the iFLY website and look under “shop.” You’ll see an “accessories” section with “wheels” listed under it.
The FiberTech series comes in three sizes: carry-on, medium, and large. Each has the same great features, including being lightweight. That helps meet airline weight requirements, which I like because it saves me money. The carry-on is 21″ x 14″ x 9″ and only 7.3 lbs., and easily fits into the overhead bins. This is my favorite size because I have an aversion to checking luggage! The medium is only slightly larger at 24″ x 16″ x 11.5″ and 9.1 lbs. Finally, the large or “Full Size” measures 28″ x 20″ x 13″ and is 11.2 lbs.
On the iFLY website, the carry-on, medium, and large are priced at $59.99, $69.99, and $79.99, respectively. Personally, I’ve seen luggage of far less quality priced much higher than this. With a family that lives across the U.S. and the holidays approaching, I think buying one of the FiberTech suitcases for each member of the family is a good investment.
