493 King Luxury Suites in Charleston, South Carolina

On my last visit to Charleston, South Carolina, I decided to stay at Walk Away Stays’ boutique hotel Luxury Hotel Suites @ 493 King. Better known as 493 King, the hotel is situated right by the King Street shopping district, but not in the middle of the hustle and bustle. In other words, we could walk to everything, but weren’t disturbed by a lot of street noise. 493 King is literally the perfect location right on King Street!

The hotel puts the popular shops, restaurants, and nightlife hot spots of King Street right at your doorstep. For those of you who don’t know, King Street is known for its big name retailers, clothiers, and even more so for its family-owned boutiques. It was named one of America’s Best Shopping Streets by U.S. News. The restaurants are some of the best Charleston has to offer, and make for a hard choice for a fine night of dining. I like to eat, so I found Halls ChopHouse calling my name. It was right down the street. It only takes three minutes to walk there, literally. Their steaks are cut from the finest grade beef and my mouth still waters at the thought of that wonderful filet mignon. The Chophouse also offers vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and, of course, out-of-this-world seafood fare.

Our 493 King suite could have been in an interior design magazine with it’s beautiful decor, including tasteful wall art, and modern furnishings, each intentionally picked by designer Elizabeth Goff. In fact, the hotel has been recently featured in Luxury Travel Magazine. The suite we stayed in was very spacious with high end appliances, flat screen TVs and quality linens. Ours even had a full washer and dryer in the unit. Loved it! Of all the perks and luxuries included, though, I think I liked the fact that there were two full bathrooms the best. It afforded us some extra privacy, which is always nice, especially on vacation.

Luxury Hotel Suites @ 493 King has a total of eight suites, each named for a specific reference to Charleston, all equally enchanting, seven of which have the washer and dryer (I recommend getting one of those). They all have free cable and WiFi, and they all include parking. The free parking is definitely a plus since everything is walking distance anyway. But if you want to include a visit to the beach, Folly Beach is only about 15 minutes away and Uber, Lyft and taxis are all available if you don’t have your own ride.

I feel like I just can’t say enough about how amazing this place is! I definitely recommend it, and I will definitely stay here again.
