In 2023, we paired dinner at The Standard Grill near the High Line with a very different kind of after-dinner activity: The Bump, a temporary bumper-car attraction at The Standard, High Line. The restaurant remains part of the hotel today, while The Bump was a temporary pop-up experience during our 2023 visit.
The Standard Grill Near the High Line
The location is one of the restaurant’s biggest advantages. The Standard Grill sits at The Standard, High Line, making it an easy stop if you are already exploring the High Line, Chelsea Market or the Meatpacking District.
On our visit, the dining room felt warm and lively rather than formal. It worked well for a meal with friends or family while still feeling distinctly like a New York night out.
What We Ate at The Standard Grill
The standout dishes for us were the Million Dollar Chicken, rib eye tartare and red snapper topped with crab.
The chicken had been brined and came with toasted bread that soaked up the au jus. The tartare was less traditional but tasted fresh and well-seasoned. The red snapper was our favorite of the mains, largely because the generous crab topping added richness without overwhelming the fish.
The Bump Bumper Cars
After dinner, we tried The Bump, a bumper-car attraction that was operating at The Standard during our 2023 visit. The inflatable-style circular cars spun quickly, and the course included large pink balls that became part of the chaos once everyone started bumping into one another.
It was silly, energetic and a surprisingly fun contrast to dinner. At the time, it worked especially well as something to do with older kids or a group that wanted a more playful evening.
Is The Bump Still Open?
We could not find The Bump listed among The Standard, High Line’s current 2026 dining, nightlife or event offerings. For that reason, we would not plan a trip expecting the bumper cars to be available today.
The Standard Grill itself is still operating, and the hotel currently lists breakfast, lunch, dinner, weekend brunch and happy hour among its offerings.
What Else Is Nearby?
The High Line and Chelsea Market make this an easy neighborhood for building a larger afternoon or evening itinerary. Even without The Bump, the area has plenty to do before or after dinner.

The Standard Grill NYC Review: Bottom Line
Our 2023 visit worked because it combined a genuinely enjoyable dinner with a temporary attraction that made the night memorable. The Standard Grill remains the durable recommendation: the location is convenient, the atmosphere feels lively and our meal had several dishes we would gladly order again.
The Bump was fun, but it was a temporary 2023 attraction rather than a current offering.
