Our 2023 Boheme Retreats stay felt very different from a typical RV campground. The Catskills property paired individually styled vintage trailers with a quiet setting near Willowemoc Creek, creating more of a couples’ getaway than an activity-packed resort.
We stayed in Shirley, a yellow-and-white vintage trailer filled with playful retro details. The trailer had personality without feeling like it had been decorated by someone who discovered macramé five minutes earlier and panicked.
The Vintage RVs Were the Main Attraction
Each trailer at Boheme Retreats had its own name and design. That gave the property more character than a row of identical rentals.
Shirley was comfortable during our stay and fit the overall vintage aesthetic. The décor was fun, but the experience worked because the trailer was also a practical place to sleep and relax.
Willowemoc Creek Set the Pace
The creek was one of the strongest parts of the setting. We could hear the water from around the campground, and sitting outside near the fire became the easiest way to spend an evening.
The property also had plenty of natural activity around it. We saw birds, chipmunks and signs of beavers nearby, which helped the campground feel removed from everyday noise without being completely isolated.
Livingston Manor Was Close Enough for Dinner
Livingston Manor was a short drive from the campground during our visit. That made it easy to leave the property for restaurants or a change of scenery without turning dinner into a major expedition.
That balance worked well for us: quiet camping when we wanted it, but a nearby town when nobody felt like cooking over a fire.
The Host Made the Stay Easier
Keva, the owner during our visit, was welcoming and helpful. She provided firewood, fire starters and coffee, and the small general-store setup nearby made it easy to pick up basics such as ice and firewood.
Those practical details mattered. A retreat is considerably less relaxing if your evening becomes an emergency search for something required to make the fire happen.

This Was More Retreat Than Resort
Boheme Retreats was not built around a long list of scheduled activities. The appeal was slowing down: sitting by the creek, gathering around a fire, hiking nearby and spending time outside.
That made it a very different experience from places such as Sun Outdoors New Orleans North Shore, where family activities were a much bigger part of the stay.
For us, Boheme Retreats felt better suited to couples, small friend groups or travelers who wanted quiet time rather than a packed campground agenda.
What We Remember Most
The strongest part of our 2023 stay was how quickly the setting encouraged us to stop doing things. The creek, vintage trailer and fire were enough entertainment for the evening.
Boheme Retreats worked because the theme and the location supported each other. The vintage RVs were memorable, but the quiet Catskills setting was what made us want to stay outside and enjoy them.
Current trailer options, policies and availability can change, so check the official Boheme Retreats site before planning a stay.
