Things to Do: Easter Sunday at the Museum

If you’re in New Mexico this holiday, you’re in luck to do something a little different. After the Easter Bunny visits and you’re done with services and meals, celebrate the Sunday with beautiful art with the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs.

Although four of the Santa Fe museums and the state historic sites will be closed on April 1, four other state museums will be open including the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science, National Hispanic Cultural Center Art Museum, the New Mexico Museum of Space History, and the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum.

Because free admission is offered to New Mexico Residents the first Sunday of every month at the four closed Santa Fe museums, free admission to those museums will be offered on Sunday, April 8, 2018 instead

For those who choose to visit the New Mexico of Natural History & Science, timing is perfect to visit Da Vinci—The Genius, in which, among many other things, one can see an animation telling the story behind the painting “The Last Supper. Admission to DaVinci is $5 off regular price for adults, seniors, and children.

The museums and historic state sites that will have to wait until the following week are; the New Mexico Museum of Art, the New Mexico History Museum and the Palace of the Governors, the Museum of International Folk Art, the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, the Lincoln Historic Site in Lincoln, the Jemez Historic Site in Jemez Springs, Fort Stanton Historic Site in Lincoln, the Fort Selden Historic Site in Radium Springs, Coronado Historic Site in Bernalillo and Bosque Redondo Memorial at Fort Sumner in Fort Sumner.
